Adventure Rally In The Colorado Rockies: YEE HAW!

iStock_000008965875SmallThere are different kinds of motorcycles for every style of riding, and depending on how you ride, there might be only a few places where you can really cut loose. Well, the guys at Cycle World understand this problem and so they started an adventure rally in the Colorado Rockies.

How Does This Rally Work?

Every year the magazine and several sponsors put together a rally for motorcyclists who ride adventure style (ADV) motorcycles. Around 70 riders break up into teams of two to four and ride all over the state to earn points and prizes. The riders have almost 100 spots they can travel to, but they can’t make it to all of them.

Teams must pick and choose their destinations and work together if they are going to collect enough points to win prizes and the Adventure cup. The points they earn visiting the destinations are combined with points they scored by running through a gymkhana course meant to test their adventure riding skills, and at the end of the rally they have a ceremony to hand out awards and prizes. However, the competition isn’t the only reason for the adventure rally.

What Is This Rally For?

Most ADV bike owners don’t get to go out and use their bikes for what they were designed to do, but the Adventure Rally–Rockies Edition gives them that opportunity and connects them with other riders who like to go out and see what their machine can do. This can help develop your riding skills while having fun in new locations you’ve never ridden before.

As a rider it is important to find community and safety when riding your motorcycle. The Adventure Rally–Rockies Edition is just one of many rallies held all over our state, and these rallies can bring us closer to our fellow riders, teach us new skills, and can help our community.
