Biker Flees Police, Almost Killing His Passenger

A Colorado Springs man thought he could run from authorities on his motorcycle, almost killing his female passenger in the process.

24-year-old Kyle Miller was riding with a female passenger of the same age on September 23 when he split lanes in front of a Sergeant from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. The Sergeant tried to pull Miller over, but Miller sped off, making it only a few blocks before striking a fire hydrant.

The female was at the scene with severe injuries, while Miller was found a few blocks away, attempting to flee.

Authorities took both parties to the hospital, where the female underwent emergency surgery for her life-threatening injuries. She is expected to survive.

Miller will face charges of Vehicular Eluding, Vehicular Assault, Reckless Driving, as well as hit and run charges. He did not have a valid driver’s license at the time of the incident.

It is unlikely that Miller’s passenger agreed to ride with him thinking she would wind up in a life-threatening motorcycle accident. It is important when we are carrying passengers to remember that our choices affect them as well as ourselves.
