Colorado State Patrol Investigates Three Motorcycle Accidents

Three separate motorcycle accidents occurred in the San Luis Valley on August 27, and the Colorado State Patrol continues to investigate these events. According to the Valley Courier, Judy Rice and her husband Donald Rice were on Colorado 160 when the vehicles in front of them stopped for one of them to make a left turn. The motorcycle rotated when they attempted to stop, and the Harley Davidson ejected both of them. Judy died, and her husband is in stable condition.

The second accident occurred as Jeremy Sisneros and Joseph Ruybal rode side by side on Colorado Highway 285. One motorcycle veered into the other, and they both slid onto their sides. Sisneros died at the scene, and Ruybal is in serious condition. Investigators consider alcohol to be a factor in this crash.

The third accident occurred on Colorado Highway 15, when Matthew Gonzales failed to get around a right hand curve. He went off the south side of the road, and the motorcycle turned on its side. Gonzales continues to be in critical condition, and alcohol may be involved in this crash as well.

Bikers are urged to use caution when traveling at the end of this summer season, and remember that alcohol is never a good mix with motorcycling.
