Cruiser Vs Sportbikes: What Nobody Tells You About Choosing Your Bike

CustomChopperIt is an age-old question that has been asked by bikers for generations… What is the better bike, a cruiser or a sportbike? The sage rider will tell you that nothing beats the relaxed manner of a cruiser, but the adrenaline junkie will tell you that nothing beats the supreme control of a replica racer. However, the answer to this ancient puzzle may be even more complex than you realize.

What Nobody Tells You About Choosing Your Bike

  • Cruisers: These bikes are big and heavy, and depending on what manufacturer you choose, they might be a little behind on the technology curve. Harleys are known for the lifestyle but other marks such as Victory are known for introducing the latest and greatest tech to their models. What nobody tells you about cruisers is that you never have to be in a rush while riding a cruiser. Cruiser controls are big and relatively easy to use, so don’t worry about it and just ride.
  • Sportbikes: Only one word truly captures what these machines offer… speed. What nobody ever tells you about riding a sportbike is that you need to have mountains of control if you don’t want to kiss the pavement anytime soon. The controls on a sportbike are small, fine-tuned and sensitive. Knocking the throttle open and paying little heed to your speed or your surroundings will land you in a ditch at around 100 mph.

Every person is different, and whether you ride a cruiser or a sportbike depends on your riding style, but everyone will tell you that. What nobody tells you about this timeless battle is that there are other styles of bike. Standards, café racers, adventure and off-road bikes are all great options for anyone considering getting into motorcycling, and if you can’t decide, just get ‘em all!
