If you ride a Honda Gold Wing 1800 or a KTM Enduro motorcycle, we recommend looking into two recent recalls that address serious safety risks with these bikes.
Honda Gold Wing 1800 Tire Defects
Continental Tire announced a voluntary recall for some of their tires used on the Honda Gold Wing 1800’s rear wheel. Specifically, the company singled out the 180/60R16 M/C 74H ContiMotion. The recall affects up to 1,700 tires currently in use.
The company said that the tires may ride unevenly, resulting in cracks and imbalanced pressure. When the tire pressure is not correct, it increases the likelihood of motorcycle accidents. An underinflated or overflated tire could easily burst, causing the rider to lose control and potentially crash.
KTM Enduro Fuel Leaks
If you bought a KTM Enduro motorcycle between October 2011 and September 2012, you should consider participating in the voluntary recall that KTM recently issued. KTM said that it received 13 reports about fuel leaks from certain models due to a defective fuel hose. Leaking fuel increases the risk of explosions, burn injuries and motorcycle accidents.
The recall affects eight models:
- 2012
- 350 XCF-W
- 2013
- 250 XC-F
- 250 XCF-W
- 350 XC-F
- 350 XCF-W
- 450 XC-F
- 450 XC-W
- 500 XC-W
