Do You Know Where Your Bike Is?

Law Tigers Colorado Sponsors Thunder in the Rockies and Forever Family RideHave you ever walked back to where you parked your motorcycle only to find it’s not there? If you have, then you have most likely fallen victim to the dreaded motorcycle thief, but don’t worry! There are technological tools that can help you keep your motorcycle safe and hunt it down if it’s ever stolen.

Do You Know Where Your Bike Is?

  • LoJack is a security system that will notify you if your motorcycle is moved, and once you have reported the theft to the police it will transmit a radio frequency signal to nearby law enforcement, who can recover your bike in a matter of hours. However, some thieves are clever and have ways to counter these tracking systems.
  • To outsmart thieves who can find and disable tracking systems, Gorilla makes a compact alarm system that can notify you if your bike is being tampered with. It uses a remote with a range of ½ a mile to let you know if something’s wrong with your bike. This alarm system can also sound an alarm to warn people to stay away from your baby. Since getting caught is always a thief’s primary concern, any device that raises a ruckus can keep your bike from being stolen, but you can never be too careful…
  • The Scorpio alarm system also uses a remote on its system just like the Gorilla system, but it has a few extras to make life harder for thieves. For starters, the Scorpio RFID remote can automatically disable or enable your bike’s ignition depending on how close you are to the bike. The Scorpio system can also monitor your ride data—like where you went, and how fast you were going—and save it on the cloud. It can also track your bike with GPS, and blare a loud alarm if somebody gets too close to your bike. That means it gives you the same tracking power as LoJack and the noisy alarms of the Gorilla system.

Systems like this are only one step in protecting your bike from the people who would rob you of your riding freedom. If you want to learn even more about protecting your motorcycle, keep following our blog, Twitter, and Facebook for more tips and ideas.
