Firefighter Dies In Miami Motorcycle Accident

According to a recent report published in the Miami Herald, a long time Miami-Dade firefighter with over 20 years of service died on Thursday, January 9 in a motorcycle accident. The 44-year-old resident of Pembroke Pines was riding his motorcycle northbound on Northwest 27th Avenue Thursday evening when a truck pulled in front of him to make a turn on Northwest 167th Street. The motorcyclist was unable to engage in evasive maneuvering and clipped the back of the turning truck, according to a representative of the Florida Highway Patrol.

Emergency crews arrived and escorted the motorcyclist to the nearby Jackson Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, the victim died of his wounds shortly after the accident. The Miami-Dade firefighter community is currently in mourning over the loss of the much appreciated fireman. The Miami-Dade Fire Chief said, “[h]e served this department and the citizens of Miami-Dade County with pride and distinction for over 19 years. On behalf of the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue family, I extend our thoughts, prayers and condolences to firefighter Steven English and his family. He will be missed.”
