Punxsutawney Phil didn’t see his shadow this year, so according to age-old American tradition, spring is coming early… and so is the riding season! If you haven’t already, it might be time for you to consider what you are going to do to get ready for the riding season this year. Did you properly store your bike? Did you get the maintenance out of the way? Or did you just sit around the house all winter? In any case, the time has come.
How Are You Getting Ready For The Riding Season?
- Maintenance: If you prepared for winter storage, this part of getting ready for the riding season is probably going to be easy. As per usual, you should check your fluids. Oil and radiator fluid are usually the most commonly checked, but don’t forget your brake and clutch fluid. Make sure all your bike’s levers actually move, and check to make sure your throttle isn’t sticking. This would also be a good time to take a look at your tires to make sure they haven’t cupped while your bike has been sitting.
- Upgrades: Did you get an upgrade on your bike over the winter? Make sure that new part is functioning how it should be so you don’t have any headaches when it comes time to turn the key. Check that bolts are tightened to spec, and make sure none of your parts are hitting each other. Rattling parts not only mess up your bike’s excellent sound, but it can also wear your parts down prematurely.
- Bling It: Get out your bedazzlers, it’s time to make that hog sparkle! There are plenty of aftermarket parts to give your bike that personal touch. New mirrors, brighter running lights, even a coat of paint will knock your riding group’s socks off. Remember, this is your ride and it should be an expression of you.
