Husband And Wife Die In Nebraska Truck Accident

According to KETV 7 Omaha, a husband and wife died in a fiery car crash outside Lincoln, Nebraska. The pair was riding in a semi-trailer east on Interstate 80 on Wednesday, December 18 around 12:00 p.m. As the couple approached mile marker 396, the husband, who was driving at the time while the wife slept in the cab, lost control of the semi-trailer and collided with the guard rail with sufficient force to flip the semi-trailer over the rail and roll down the entrance ramp. The semi-trailer burst into flames as it rolled down the side of the highway into a Target parking lot, incinerating the husband and wife inside.

The pair was delivering dry goods from East Canton, Ohio on behalf of the Chattanooga, Tennessee-based trucking company, U.S. Express. Authorities are still unsure as to what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Smoke and debris from the incident took emergency crews well over an hour to clear to the point where eastbound Interstate 80 traffic could be resumed.
