The motorcycle used by actor Chris Pratt in Jurassic World will be auctioned off on eBay to help fund research for prostate cancer. Pratt’s motorcycle, known as Scrambler, was used in the movie to ride with dinosaurs. Made by Triumph Motorcycles, the bike uses both on and off-road looks, using a sleek forest green design with rugged wheels.
The auction went live on July 23rd, and will stay up for only 10 days. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, an event that raises money for prostate cancer research. Operating in over 80 countries for the past four years, the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride seeks to raise more than $3 million to fund research.
Prostate cancer is one of the most common types among men in the United States. According to Centers for Disease Control statistics, 27,970 men died from prostate cancer in 2011. As one of the most common forms of cancer in the Unites States, it is important for advances in research to move forward.
Do Motorcycle Events Help Fund Cancer Research?
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is not the only event raising money to beat cancer. In Wisconsin, Ridin’ To A Cure raises money for breast cancer research.
Last year in Colorado, the Mountain Shadow Riders of Colorado Springs held its annual Breast Cancer Awareness Ride, attracting more than 300 riders. The proceeds from the ride went to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
