Another product incorporating the use of LED lights attached to motorcycle clothing has been getting headlines on the internet for the last few weeks.

According to the developers, who have launched an Indie GoGo fundraising campaign for the product, the device uses a patch with LED lights and two wireless transmitters that connect to the motorcycle’s braking system and battery. The LED lighting system can respond to braking so the motorcyclists’ clothing shares a connection to the motorcycle. The patch can be sewn into most kinds of clothing to allow for maximum customization.

For example, motorcyclists can use a favorite jacket or t-shirt and sew the LED patch onto the back. If the fundraiser is successful, there will be five different patch designs to choose from, and riders can request customized designs.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, over 51 percent of motorcycle accidents are caused by collisions with other vehicles, usually because drivers fail to see a motorcyclist in time. Products geared towards helping motorcyclists stay visible can play an important role in the future of motorcycle safety. Intersections are still the number one danger to motorcyclists, but unlit highways and interstates can be just as deadly.
