Eighteen-wheeler trucks, while extremely useful, have the potential to be the most dangerous things on the road. This becomes particularly true if they break traffic laws.
In a fatal truck accident in Glenwood Springs this summer, a logging truck driver allegedly ran a red light, slamming into a Jeep making a left turn. Authorities pronounced the driver of the Jeep, 24-year old Claudia De Ramirez, dead at the scene.
The truck driver, 58-year old John Briggs, avoided criminal charges, but will face additional traffic counts of careless driving causing death, which could result in the loss of his commercial truck license as well as up to a year in county jail.
