Man Stranded For 6 Days After Colorado Car Accident

The New York Daily News reported that two Colorado men, 36 and 59-years-old, were driving to Cripple Creek, the popular casino destination, when the later suddenly fainted and the truck flew off the highway and crashed. The driver, who lost consciousness due to a diabetic episode, died upon impact. The passenger survived, albeit immobilized. The survivors legs were crushed inside the truck, his jaw was broken and he was stuck on top of his friend’s corpse. The passenger remained in this position, without food or water, for 6 days. Temperatures plummeted to near freezing and torrential downpours soaked him to the bone.

“I remember waking up and thinking I was in a dream…we flew through the median, over the other side of the road and off a 30-foot cliff,” he said. “I was lying on top of my dead friend…six days, six nights, no food, no water.” Family members realized that something was wrong when they found the survivor’s dog at his home, because he always took his dog with him. After six days in the cold, a Colorado Department of Transportation worker located the survivor. Apparently, he was only wearing a long sleeve shirt and light jacket.
