Do you think of your motorcycle as your best friend? Do you talk to it all the time? Do you share a special bond with your machine that nobody understands? If you do, you either have a screw loose or you are very sentimental about your motorcycle. Well, Kawasaki wants to take that connection with your bike to the next level.
If Your Motorcycle Talked, Would You Talk Back?
It’s called the Kanjo Engine—Emotion Engine in English—and it is the future of motorcycling, or at least that’s what Kawasaki says. The green machine factory is stepping into the digital age by trying to beat its competitors to the market with a talking motorcycle. That’s right, a talking motorcycle!
The Kanjo Engine was developed by the SoftBank Group to read people’s emotions. This technology could allow your motorcycle to have a conversation with you, recommend ways to make your ride more fun, and it could even develop its own personality. Yep, you read that right—your motorcycle could develop a personality.
The project is still in the beginning stages, but Kawi is feeling confident enough in the process to announce it to the world and its competitors. Cocoro SB Corp is developing the artificial intelligence to make this new feature possible. The Kanjo Engine should also be able to make adjustments to your bike’s settings on the fly, so it may also be able to change your fuel maps, soften or harden your suspension, or it could even modulate your brakes.
Does Kawasaki’s new technology sound fun, or are they paving the way for our new robot overlords? Either way, it gives new meaning to the “soul” of a motorcycle. What would you do with technology like that on your motorcycle? Tell us on Facebook and Twitter, and keep follow our motorcycle blog to find out more about the future of riding a motorcycle.
