The Fourth of July turned tragic for one New Orleans family when their 3-year-old was killed by a hit-and-run driver.
Asia Williams, New Orleans East, was attempting to cross Dinkins Street when she was struck by a motorcycle rider. The child was on the curb when a motorcade of cycles came down her street. As many as five motorcycles were doing tricks and some sped down the street and Williams had stuck her head out from between two vehicles to watch the motorcycles. One of the motorcycle drivers came down from popping a wheelie and clipped Williams. The child helicoptered in the air and landed on the ground. The impact was so violent that pieces broke off the motorcycle.
The driver took off down the street after the impact. Witnesses said that the driver looked back but kept going.
Despite the witnesses at the scene, the driver remains unidentified. Police interviewed two riders at the scene and are still searching for the driver of the motorcycle that hit Williams. Police are looking for a blue and white Suzuki GSXR 1000 racing bike. They are appealing to the public to come forward with any information they may have.
