Our Must-See List of Politicians Who Ride Motorcycles

Popular culture associates riding motorcycles with a very specific style. People often imagine leather jackets and Harley-Davidsons. However, we rarely think of riders as heads of state or politicians. As it turns out, even politicians love to ride.

  • Perhaps the best-known rider amongst the political elite is former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. The “Governator” has not only appeared in several movies riding Harley-Davidsons, he rides them off the silver screen as well. Many people may remember Schwarzenegger appearing on a Harley Fatboy for his role in the Terminator movies.
  • Is anyone surprised Russian President Vladimir Putin has appeared in the press riding a motorcycle? This head of state reportedly has close ties to the Russian biker club, the Night Wolves.
  • Former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was an avid rider before being injured in a shooting. She had been riding and racing for over twenty years. Gabrielle Giffords had also mentioned a desire to ride her BMW motorcycle through Latin America.
  • Jon Huntsman, the former U.N Ambassador to China and presidential candidate, was seen riding a motorcycle in an ad for the 2012 elections. He was known for showing up at campaign events on the back of a Harley-Davidson.
  • Much like Jon Huntsman, Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin has gotten a lot of attention from the press for showing up to motorcycle events riding a Harley-Davidson.

Riders do not always fall into stereotypes displayed by popular culture. We can be accountants, attorneys, and even politicians.
