In the mountains of Colorado, snow is falling, and that’s bad news for motorcyclists. Snowy and icy conditions can be a nightmare because our bikes depend on the grip provided by the road. If we don’t have that grip, then it can be downright dangerous to ride. This is the reason why most motorcyclists hang up their leathers when winter rolls around, but what if we told you there’s a way for you to ride, even in the snow? Would you do it?
Are You Ready to Snow Bike?
A small company in Idaho that makes after-market suspension systems came up with a radical idea. What if your motorcycle could ride in the snow? Could this be a new source of fun for the motorcycling community? So, they set out to answer these questions, and what they came up with may have started an entirely new winter sport.
That little company created a kit that allows motorcyclists to replace the front and back wheels on their dirt bikes. The front wheel is replaced by a ski, and the back wheel is replaced by a track similar to what you’d find on a snowmobile. They called this creation a snow bike, and it does exactly what you think it does.
The snow bike can fly through snow like a dirt bike through mud. The lean angles, and the upright sitting position mimic normal dirt bike riding, so riders don’t have to deal with a steep learning curve. Better yet, the fun new past time just made its premiere at the X Games!
Do you think you might be tempted to ride in the snow? Do you think the snow bike is as fun to ride as a normal motorcycle? Tell us your thoughts on Facebook and Twitter, and don’t forget to check up with the attorneys who ride by reading our blog.
