A September 9 collision between a minivan and a scooter left the scooter driver injured, according to the Prowers Journal. The accident only involved the two vehicles. Both vehicles were headed westbound on Colorado 50 at the time of the accident, which happened about two miles west of Rocky Ford at around 9:35 p.m.
It was at that time that one of the vehicles involved, a 2000 Dodge Caravan, crashed into the other, a 50 cc, two-wheel scooter. The van was being driven by an Olney Springs, Colorado woman and the scooter by a Rocky Ford man, who was ejected from his scooter by the force of the collision. After being ejected from his scooter, the man was thrown onto the westbound shoulder of Colorado 50. The minivan came to a controlled stop after the collision.
The Caravan driver was not reported to have sustained any injuries in the accident. The scooter driver, on the other hand, was reported to have sustained serious injuries and had to be airlifted by Flight for Life to Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta, Colorado. The accident was still being investigated at the time of this report and authorities were still unsure of the cause of the collision or whether speed, drugs or alcohol were a factor in the wreck.
