The Colorado Springs police are searching for car involved in fatal hit-and-run motorcycle accident.
Spc. Christopher Wheeler, 19, of Boston, MA died on Friday, May 29, 2011 when his motorcycle collided with a car. Wheeler and a soldier on another motorcycle were traveling in north Colorado Springs at approximately 10 p.m. At the intersection of Rangewood and Randall drives the car turned left in front of them, causing the crash.
The other soldier had a female passenger. Wheeler, the other soldier and the passenger all impacted with the passenger side of the car. The car fled the scene and Wheeler died shortly after the accident. The other rider and his passenger were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries
Wheeler was a member of the 4th Brigade Combat Team of the 4th Infantry Division and was stationed at Fort Carson at the time of the accident.
The car in question left the scene but witness described the car as a metallic green Dodge Neon. The car has a graphic or decal on the passenger side as well as impact damage including a broken side marker light, a missing fuel door and a broken window.
