Surprise Motorcycle Visit Goes Wrong

What was supposed to be a surprise visit for a returning veteran in southeast Texas last week turned into a four-vehicle accident leaving two motorcyclists critically injured.

The two motorcyclists were part of an East Texas Christian motorcycle club that was traveling to present U.S. Army Master Sergeant Andrew Primeaux with a flag. Primeaux had served two tours of duty in Iraq and one in Afghanistan and was returning home to visit his parents. The group had planned on surprising him with the flag.

The motorcycle brigade was eastbound on FM 1007 when the accident happened. A vehicle driven by 65-year-old Alvin Mundy was traveling westbound on the same road and slowed down as he approached the large number of motorcycles. A second vehicle, driven by Kaysie Alverado, 21 rear-ended Mundy’s vehicle, causing it to flip and spin around into the group of motorcyclists.

Two female riders struck the rear of Mundy’s overturned vehicle, critically injuring both of them. The women were transported by helicopter to local hospitals. Mundy, his wife and a three-year-old girl traveling in his vehicle were also taken to the hospital.

It is unclear if the group was able to eventually deliver Primeaux’s flag after the motorcycle accident.
