In Firestone, right outside of Denver, a little 4 year-old received a little dirt bike. His parents couldn’t have realized just how much that bike would change their son’s life, or the roads it would take him down.
This Colorado Teen Is Already A Road Racing Champion!
His name is Sean Thomas, and he won runner-up in the Lightweight Twins division of the Utah Sport Bike Association… Oh yeah, did we mention he also won the Production 500 class in that racing league? This champion did it all while maintaining a 3.5 GPA at his school, and he’s only 13 years old.
Thomas might be the youngest rider in Colorado to receive his road racing license, but now he is also one of the youngest champs from our state, too. As he told a reporter from Denver 7: “I feel like, to be able to do this at a young age and still have more area to explore when I’m older, that’s really awesome!”
With the 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden stepping down from MotoGP to World Superbikes in 2016, new spaces are opening up for Americans on the world stage. Right now, only Hayden and P.J. Jacobsen are representing the red, white and blue in the world arena, but some are looking to change that soon.
Former world champion Wayne Rainey has revitalized the national road racing community with the MotoAmerica series, and he and his colleagues are looking for the next big motorcycle racing talent to represent America. Could Sean Thomas be the next world road racing champ from the USA?
He still has a few years before he can join the ranks of the riders in MotoAmerica, but professional racing isn’t too far-fetched for this rider. For now, we can only wait and see, but as long as he’s winning, the future looks bright for the future of this Colorado road racer.
Brought to you by the Metier Law Firm, looking out for the riders from Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska and the rest of the United States.
