In a rare, equestrian tragedy, a series of automobiles collided with a horse in the middle of Interstate 76 in Wiggins, Colorado. Initially, a Dodge Caravan driven by a husband and wife collided with the horse. The 66-year-old spouse died on impact. Witnesses say that as the car collided with the horse, it appeared as if the horse was inside of the car. Unfortunately, the horse remained in the middle of the road after the Dodge Caravan spun out.

Then, a Chevrolet Venture collided with the deceased animal. The impact was sufficient to roll the car onto its side in the opposite lane. The 71-year-old driver of the Venture then died due to the car flipping onto the driver’s side.

Soon after, an Audi A4 driving on interstate in the opposite direction from the Caravan and Venture crashed into the sideways Venture. The 22-year-old driver from Wray, Colorado then lost control of the Audi and was sent careening into a fence. The passenger, a 66-year-old from Scottsbluff, Nebraska, emerged from the wreckage with only minor wounds. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the driver, who was seriously injured. The owner of the horse and why they left the animal unattended remains unknown.
