Can you guess what manufacturer is behind this latest innovation that promises to change motorcycling forever?
Does This Motorcycle Follow You?
Not long ago, we told you about Kawasaki’s Kanjo Engine, a system meant to let you talk to your motorcycle and tell it what to do. Well, Honda has taken the idea a bit further. The Honda Riding Assist system will allow your motorcycle to follow you like a puppy!
Honda demonstrated this system a couple of weeks ago, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The motorcycle equipped with the technology followed a Uni-Cub unicycle out on stage all by itself, and stood in place as the announcer explained what was going on.
This system was built to keep your motorcycle from tipping over while you are stopped or moving at slow speed. Instead of using mass-shifting gyroscopes like other balancing motorcycles, this bike can keep itself standing by making small steering inputs. The system also allows the motorcycle to tail its owner as if it were on an electronic leash.
This system seems like it could be a far more cost-effective way for motorcycles to balance themselves than what other manufacturers are working on. It also seems like Honda might be a step ahead of everyone else when it comes to the idea of a self-riding motorcycle.
