Wichita Doctor Arrested in Bizarre Hit-and-Run Accident

Wichita doctor, Mohammad Sarrafizadeh, 67, is in custody after a hit-and-run accident that killed a 32-year-old man on Friday, June 10, 2011.

The accident occurred around 7:15 a.m. near Central and Greenwich Rd., near Douglas. The victim was doing work on the lawn of Hawker Beechcraft when he was hit by a minivan driven by Sarrafizadeh. The victim was wearing a bright orange safety vest at the time of the accident.

In a bizarre twist, the victim’s body landed on top of the vehicle and Sarrafizadeh kept driving for almost three miles until he got to his home in the Rocky Creek neighborhood.

A witness followed the doctor to his home in the Rocky Creek neighborhood and Sedgwick County emergency received several calls from people reporting a car driving down the road with a body on top of it.

Sarrafizadeh was arrested at his home in the 1500 block of Krug, near 13th and 127th East, on suspicion of failing to stop at an injury accident.

Neighbors were stunned that someone could not notice they had hit someone or drive with a body on their car.
