A Lincoln, Nebraska woman is set for arraignment on a manslaughter charge following a traffic accident that killed a 54-year-old motorcyclist.
24-year-old Nichole Heusinkvelt waved a preliminary hearing last week in the case in which she is charged with manslaughter and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
Sheriff’s deputies had to track Heusinkvelt down after they arrived at the scene of an accident between a white SUV and a motorcycle that killed rider James Oldfield. Deputies found the grill to a Chevrolet and a tire, and followed a trail left by the missing wheel to a 2005 Trailblazer parked at a house only two miles away.
They found Heusinkvelt at the house with glass and blood on her, claiming she had hit a deer. Authorities believe she was drinking before the crash.
Heusinkvelt is out of jail on the condition she not drink alcohol or drive with a $100,000 percentage bond.
People do reckless things when they drink. Mixing alcohol with driving can lead to tragic situations like this one, which is why no one should drink and drive.
